Heyy there, fellow bookworms!
Welcome to Bookworm Blogs! Grab a snack and a drink, get comfy — and (very important) enjoy!
I am so excited to introduce you to my dear friend CeCe Wylder!
On September 22nd, Cece releases The Scars of War (Its also her birthday!!!! What an amazing birthday gift!!!). 🖤
This is the first book in her dark romance series Of Fire & Ruin, and its available for preorder now!
This isn't just a book. It's a world where prophecy meets passion, where fate collides with fire and destiny rides with The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse. And trust me—you're going to want this on your TBR because this book is going to leave you breathless and begging for more!
Now lets get to my curios questions...
Q1: What inspired you to write your book/books?
CeCe: My parents enrolled my sister and me in an evangelical school, which was a…spectacularly wrong choice for a kid who questioned everything. While everyone memorised Noah and Jonah, I was riveted by Revelation: the Horsemen, the tension of endings. I spent years studying different religions and ultimately didn’t land in any of them, but the Horsemen kept riding through my head. That obsession, plus my fascination with power, consequence, and love that refuses to ask permission, sparked Of Ruin and Fire—myth and prophecy colliding with the beautiful mess of being human, dangerous, and intimate by design.
Q2: Have you always wanted to be an author and what got you into writing?
CeCe: Yes. Books have always been my constant. I grew up and didn’t have many friends, and whether I was a loner by choice or by circumstance…books were there. I read everything I could get my hands on. Eventually, I started getting ideas of my own, and I began to fill notebooks with scribbles and half-scenes until the stories got louder than everything else. Writing stopped being a hobby and became the only way to quiet the noise. That’s when I knew I was an author.
My Note: And you are one hell of an amazing author, CeCe!!!🖤
Q3: Which five words would best describe your book/books?
CeCe: Dark. Depraved. Seductive. Mythic. Relentless.
Q4: How would you introduce your characters?
CeCe:
Lux: Bartender-artist with a secret ancient bloodline, turning fear into momentum and choosing power even when it could cost everything.
Riven (War): An absolute powerhouse in a suit. He is disciplined, relentless, protective, and a danger that feels like fate to Lux.
Vale (Death): The ending. He always arrives like winter—quiet, inevitable—he is the hush between Lux’s heartbeats.
Elias (Pestilence): A beautiful fever with a genius mind, devotion that spreads, a love that looks like a cure but hits like an outbreak for Lux.
Niko (Famine): Elegance sharpened to restraint—velvet-door clubs and tea at four—the promise of hunger Lux can’t forget.
Q5: Who is your favourite character that you have written and why?
CeCe: Niko is my current obsession because he weaponizes elegance. Lux is my heart, always.
My Note: Lux is obviously also my favourite and always will be. But Riven is my current obsession lol.
Q6: Is there a real person that inspired your character/characters?
CeCe: In general, I would say they’re Frankenstein’d from mythology, headlines, and songs, other than Lux. I am Lux, and Lux is me. Her personality and general badassery are 100% me in my 20s when I felt like I had nothing left to lose and was just going with the wind.
Visual vibes: Lux has young Christina Hendricks energy, Vale sits somewhere near young Cillian Murphy with glasses, Elias is “icy-blond Anderson Cooper” energy, and Niko lives between Jesse Williams and Michael B. Jordan.
Q7: If your book/books was a dish, what dish would that be and why?
CeCe: Bone-in ribeye, black garlic butter, charred lemons, and a dangerous smear of chili jam. Opulent, bloody, sweet when it chooses to be.
My Note: That sounds soooo delicious!
Q8: If your character was a pizza what toppings would it have?
CeCe:
Lux: Pepperoni, chilli oil, torn burrata.
Riven: Double sausage, Calabrian chilies, hot honey.
Vale: White pie with truffle, mushrooms, black garlic.
Elias: Green sauce, pickled jalapeños, red onion, a squeeze of lime.
Niko: Prosciutto, figs, arugula, shaved parm.
Q9: If your characters were an ice cream flavour, what flavour would they be?
CeCe:
Lux: Salted caramel.
Riven: Espresso fudge.
Vale: Black sesame with sea salt.
Elias: Lemon curd ripple.
Niko: Honeycomb gelato.
My Note: Riven sounds delicious. As an ice cream flavour too haha...
Q10: If you could give one warning to your characters, what would it be?
CeCe: The prophecy doesn’t care how you feel. Pay in blood or pay in kind.
Q11: What pet would your character have — one that screams “this is so them”?
CeCe:
Lux: A thieving raven that brings shiny offerings.
Riven: A scarred rescue wolfhound named Ruin.
Vale: A sphynx cat named Eulogy.
Elias: An all-white ferret called Patient Zero.
Niko: A sleek Doberman named Silk.
Q12: If you could bring one of your characters to life which one would it be? What would you guys do together?
CeCe: Lux. We’d get tattoos, eat something reckless at 2 a.m., and talk about the cost of power.
Q13: If your book/books were made into a movie/tv show, who would you cast?
CeCe:
Lux: Madelaine Petsch
Riven: Spencer Charnas intensity
Vale: Yungblud in a pair of wire-rims
Elias: Nicholas Hoult with icy blond hair
Niko: Michael B. Jordan
Q14: What other projects can we expect in the future?
CeCe: The rest of the Of Ruin and Fire series: Books 2-5
Q15: How would your characters introduce you to someone?
CeCe:
Lux: “She tells the truth even when it hurts.”
Riven: “If there’s a match to strike, she strikes it.”
Vale: “She understands endings and writes anyway.”
Elias: “Brilliant, obsessive, beautifully dangerous. Her stories spread under your skin.”
Niko: “Exquisite taste. Dangerous appetite.”
